The tip-edge concept: eliminating unnecessary anchorage strain.

چکیده
The difficulty of managing this reverse anchorage potential has led to an increase in the use of extraoral forces, functional appliances, and even orthognathic surgery to correct malocclusions with relatively slight sagittal discrepancies. In his last published article, Angle advocated angulated bracket placement that would tip the crowns of the maxillary teeth distally to correct a Class II, division 1 malocclusion (Fig. 1). These angulations are the opposite of those found in today's preadjusted appliances, but they never gained widespread acceptance because of the need to remove and resolder the brackets at different angulations for finishing.

Tip-Edge® Brackets Can Benefit All Edgewise Techniques Through Variable Anchorage Control
The Tip-Edge bracket features the first and only archwire slot that offers variable control levels. It’s .022" archwire slot can increase in size to .028" relative to the archwire during retraction yet close back down to .022" to facilitate final finishing. Variable control eliminates the excessive anchorage strain and bite deepening that occurs during retraction with conventional edgewise appl...
متن کاملA protein complex containing Epo1p anchors the cortical endoplasmic reticulum to the yeast bud tip
The cortical endoplasmic reticulum (cER) of yeast underlies the plasma membrane (PM) at specific contact sites to enable a direct transfer of information and material between both organelles. During budding, directed movement of cER to the young bud followed by subsequent anchorage at its tip ensures the faithful inheritance of this organelle. The ER membrane protein Scs2p tethers the cER to th...
متن کاملRole for cER and Mmr1p in Anchorage of Mitochondria at Sites of Polarized Surface Growth in Budding Yeast
Mitochondria accumulate at neuronal and immunological synapses and yeast bud tips and associate with the ER during phospholipid biosynthesis, calcium homeostasis, and mitochondrial fission. Here we show that mitochondria are associated with cortical ER (cER) sheets underlying the plasma membrane in the bud tip and confirm that a deletion in YPT11, which inhibits cER accumulation in the bud tip,...
متن کاملMitochondrial anchorage and fusion contribute to mitochondrial inheritance and quality control in the budding yeast Saccharomyces cerevisiae
Higher-functioning mitochondria that are more reduced and have less ROS are anchored in the yeast bud tip by the Dsl1-family protein Mmr1p. Here we report a role for mitochondrial fusion in bud-tip anchorage of mitochondria. Fluorescence loss in photobleaching (FLIP) and network analysis experiments revealed that mitochondria in large buds are a continuous reticulum that is physically distinct ...
متن کاملA role for Mfb1p in region-specific anchorage of high-functioning mitochondria and lifespan in Saccharomyces cerevisiae
Previous studies indicate that replicative lifespan in daughter cells of Sacchraromyces cerevisiae depends on the preferential inheritance of young, high-functioning mitochondria. We report here that mitochondria are functionally segregated even within single mother cells in S. cerevisiae. A high-functioning population of mitochondria accumulates at the tip of the mother cell distal to the bud....
